Historic England Covid-19 Emergency Heritage at Risk Response Fund29th January 2021

BBA have been working with Saltburn Community and Arts Association, Cleveland, to obtain emergency funding from the Historic England Covid-19 Heritage at Risk Fund.

The building has some eligible repair needs and we assisted the client in specifying repairs and obtaining tenders for the work.
It is such a worthy fund and we are grateful for the contribution it makes to the maintenance of Listed buildings, employment and craft training opportunities.

The Grade II former church and school hall was designed by George Baines, London, in the Arts and Crafts style and built in 1910.
It has solid brickwork walls with terracotta dressings, plastered internally and single glazing, open ceilings with slated pitched and flat roofs. It has a corner tower with belfry.
The building became redundant in 1969 and in 1970 was repurposed into community use providing a Theatre, Hall and ancillary rooms.

The grant application was successful and BBA look forward to working with our client in delivering the project during 2021.
