Award for Hylton Castle10th October 2020

We are really pleased to announce that The Hylton Castle Project has won the Conservation and Regeneration Award at the CENE 2020 Awards.

We are very grateful to CENE, the Judges, the headline sponsor CDM and award Sponsor, SES Engineering, for this award.

The award acknowledges the long term vision (and staying power) of the Friends of Hylton Castle who have pushed this project for over 25 years;

The creation of long lasting partnerships with Sunderland City Council, National Lottery Heritage Fund, The Garfield and Wolfson Foundations, English Heritage and Historic England;

And lastly, a fantastic team of talented and enthusiastic consultants, contractors and volunteers that have successfully delivered a multimillion pound rescue, of a nationally important heritage asset, in our region, for its people.

‘The Constructing Excellence Awards are designed to showcase and celebrate achievements by projects, organisations and individuals from the built environment as they continue to set the benchmark for excellence.
The quality of the submissions has once again been exceptional. The category winners from each region will go forward to the national final and this will give those worthy winners an opportunity to receive further recognition and acclaim on a truly national level.’

Catriona Lingwood, Chief Executive of Constructing Excellence in the North East.
